A graduate text introducing higher order Fourier analysis, which extends classical Fourier analysis using tools such as Gowers uniformity norms and nilsequences. It develops the inverse and counting theorems and applies them to problems in additive combinatorics and ergodic theory. The book is based on a graduate course Tao gave at UCLA.
